ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The committee for the 2019 Someone Cares Inc. Health & Wellness Symposium is pleased to announce that the Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest is the official accommodations hotel for the symposium. The Symposium is being on November 21 and 22, 2019 in the conference center of Someone Cares new offices at its headquarters in Marietta, Georgia. The opening night meet and greet reception and open house will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. You don’t want to miss this!
The symposium will feature topical topics that affect the lives of the LGBTQ+ community and well as feature trainings, presentation of Georgia State University graduate student study, and new ways of accessing and using a Transgender toolkit by the CDC. On day one, Kudirat Bukie Mumuney, FNP-C, MSN, ACRN will present on Tuberculosis and Transgender Health. Twenty years ago, there was a multi-state outbreak of TB that afflicted mostly transgender people in New York, New Jersey and Maryland. As reported by The New York Times in April of 2000, a TB strain infected a group of young black males travelling dancers who identify themselves as transgender. Mumuney, will educate on Tuberculosis, its effect and how it affects Transgender health.
