Garry Bevel is an attorney in Florida working as Jacksonville’s Children’s Ombudsperson. In that role, Garry helps lift children’s voices and give them a platform using the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as the blueprint for child well-being.
Previously, he served as the Director of the Commission on Youth at Risk; Assistant Director of the Opening Doors for LGBTQ Youth in Foster Care project; and Deputy Diversity Officer at the American Bar Association in Washington, DC. Garry is the secretary of the board of the Jacksonville Center for Children’s Rights; serves on the advisory board of the LGBTQ Fund for Northeast Florida at the Community Foundation; and is a master trainer and advisory council member of the Human Rights Campaign’s All Children-All Families LGBTQ Cultural Competency Initiative.
